Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or running. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight areas.

If you want a smooth ride with your baby, select models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. They are prone, however, to punctures. Make sure you have an emergency repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies, the symbol of the decade that were more expensive than common sense, are in steep decline. They've been replaced with four-wheelers that can be more versatile in terrain, yet still look stylish and easy to push.

The basic idea is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with bumpy and rough pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front enable you to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with an infant and a 3-year-old child and found it to be very sturdy. It was able to handle grass, cobbles and rough pavements as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was sturdy to push, and very stable on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasional pumping) offer built-in suspension which was extremely comfortable for my kids.

The size and shape of the seat is another aspect to consider. You want the seat to be big enough to allow your child to feel comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies offer the option of lying flat that lets your child face you, while others only allow a face-to-parent one.

A great option for those who want to tackle off-road or muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy can be used as a single unit from birth, and then expands to take two children when your family grows. It is suitable for babies and toddlers up to age 4 and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, a better 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat unit. Storage options are also a plus with a large storage basket with zip pockets on the hood and an extra pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Wheels with larger diameter

Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability while driving over rough terrain. This is perfect for buggies that are off-road. They also allow you to move the pushchair around tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have the front wheels that swivel to assist you in maneuvering around corners with ease, whereas others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This can also help in the event that you hit a tree root or stray kerb as the front wheel can be lifted up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which allows them to navigate a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. However, they're susceptible to punctures, so you'll need a repair kit, spare tube and pump in your bag.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are some of our favourite 3-wheelers. According to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which she claims "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles", and can easily move up and down kerbs. The buggies also have suspensions that, according to Kath "smooths out bumps very effectively".

Buggies with larger wheels can be quite wide and may struggle to fit into narrow spaces. This can be an issue especially if you're using it to a jogger or you need to to get through doors that are narrow when out and out and about. Luckily, most models have compact folding options that let you remove the front wheels for more compact storage.

Easy to manoeuvre

A three-wheeler can be more maneuverable for a child. They are designed so that the front wheels can be turned on a dime and are easy to maneuver, making them perfect for difficult terrain like cobblestones, parks, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and stated: "The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough terrain, with the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also impressed by how well it coped with bumps, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. It was very stable for descending or on uneven terrain."

The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something you should keep in mind when your home is an urban area. If this is a concern, a 4-wheel buggy might be a better option for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars will protect your child from scrapes and bumps when out and about. These bumper bars are easy to install and will allow your child to feel secure and safe while out and out and about.

This bumper bar is designed to match the sleek lines on the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller. It comes with a soft, padded surface that provides a comfortable place for your child to hold onto during walks. The durable construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child can take a stroll around town without having to worry about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far ahead.

The fabric sling seat sits comfortably inside the frame as opposed to sitting on top like modular seats do, providing the lower centre of gravity at the appropriate height for your newborn and also providing excellent weight distribution for easy kerb pop (it takes much less effort to push a buggy up and over a curb than you might think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's ideal on cobbles and grass. It's also a good option for running with its tyres that are filled with air and a the lockable swivel wheel.

With a chic and sophisticated appearance this bumper bar will surely attract attention wherever you go. Available in a variety of colours and finishes that can be customized to match your style. It features a simple, quick-release mechanism that makes it easy to install and remove the bumper bar when needed. Moreover, the bumper bar is easy to clean and is constructed from sturdy materials that are easy to wipe down. This makes it a great option for families that want an elegant and safe accessory for their stroller.

Comfort

A 3-wheel buggie offers the best in maneuverability and performance when you go off-road. This style of buggy is simple to steer and turn on a dime with its perfect geometry engineering, weight, and distribution.

The sport's clever design puts the sling seat made of fabric inside the frame, rather than sitting on top as modular seats. This lets it have a lower center of gravity which means it's easier to push, has a lighter curb-pop (you won't need to exert as much effort to lift the buggy's front end over the curb), and offers greater stability and balance. With the 16" rear wheels, lockable front wheel, and air-filled tyres that allow you to enjoy a more smooth, comfortable jog.

It's not the only reason to love this buggy - our MFM reviewer Kath loved how spacious it is as well. There's a nimble large, spacious basket that's surprisingly spacious for a buggy that's this big. Additionally, there's an excellent pouch on the back unit, and two smaller mesh pockets under the hood where you can keep your phone and keys.
